Your Top Moving Questions Answered

To plan and book a move with AAA Movers, you have a few options:
• Use our online Quick Quote tool and get a basic idea of what your move might cost.
• Fill out our online In-Home Estimate form, and an agent will contact you to schedule a visit.
• Call our customer care center directly at 612-540-0849.
If you decide to move with AAA Movers, your move coordinator will help you select moving services (as needed) and answer questions that come up along the process.
During an in-home estimate, a salesperson will visit your home to estimate the weight and size of the belongings you’ll be moving. They’ll discuss move details such as dates, timing, and necessary packing services and address your questions. Your salesperson will then draft a customized written estimate for your review.
You and your moving coordinator will determine the timing when setting up your move. We offer two different arrival times. Our morning arrival time (8 am–10 am) is guaranteed. Our afternoon arrivals take place between 11 am–6 pm. You’ll receive a call half an hour before your movers arrive at your pick-up location.

Unlike other companies, we don’t bill from when we leave to when we return. Instead, the only billable drive time is when your items are on the truck. Our movers’ time starts when they arrive at your origin location and ends once they finish up at the destination address. For storage jobs, the movers’ time starts when the vaults are loaded on the truck and ends when unloaded at the destination.
Two hours is the minimum number needed to book our movers.
Yes, but how much protection you have and its cost depends on the valuation coverage you select. This element can be one of the most confusing aspects of moving, but it’s essential to understand what we’re providing!

The valuation option you choose determines the basis upon which any claim will be adjusted and the carrier’s maximum liability. The carrier’s liability for loss or damage is based upon the carrier’s tariffs and federal laws and regulations that have certain limitations and exclusions.

Remember, valuation is not insurance—it’s the moving company's liability! Check with your homeowner’s insurance to find out if you are covered for moving. More often than not, you’ll find that you are!

Released Value

This option is the most economical because there’s no additional cost. However, this option provides minimal protection and isn’t sufficient coverage for most shipments. It will pay you $0.60 per pound per article if lost or damaged while moving. That means a piece of furniture weighing 75 lbs would receive a settlement of $45.00.

If you select this coverage, you must initial the Bill of Lading. Note: this only applies if your insurance policy covers your goods for their entire value, and this would be considered supplemental coverage for your move.
We tell our clients you’ll almost always need more boxes than expected. It’s better to have extra boxes of varying sizes than to be missing the boxes you need.

Once you know you’ll be moving, reach out to local moving companies as soon as possible, especially if you’re looking to move during the busy season (May-September). While we aim to offer flexibility, giving us 1-2 weeks’ notice for local moves and 4-6 weeks for long-distance moves is ideal. This window allows us the time to ensure everything goes smoothly.

If you need to schedule a last-minute or a weekend, don’t hesitate to contact us! We will do our best to make it work.
Our moving consultants use AAA Movers proprietary software that calculates your move based on the weight and number of items you have, the move date, and the distance between locations. With the gathered information, our moving coordinators will provide a comprehensive and customized Move Plan to fit your timeline and budget.
You can include items of extraordinary value (i.e., jewelry, money, photographs, antiques, stamp collections) in your shipment, provided you notify your AAA Movers driver of these items before packing or moving day. However, we strongly recommend that you carry irreplaceable and expensive articles with you or make other arrangements for their transport.

In the moving industry, items worth more than $100 per pound are considered “extraordinary” value articles. If you’re moving items of extraordinary value, complete and sign the High-Value Inventory Form and the “Extraordinary (Unusual) Value Article Declaration” box on the Bill of Lading. If you’re not including any articles of extraordinary value on your shipment, simply write “none” on the High-Value Inventory Form and sign it.
At the end of the job, you’ll have an opportunity to pay with a card, check, or exact cash. Please note: our moving team does not carry change.
Tips are always appreciated. Have cash on hand to tip your moving team and thank them for a job well done.
AAA Movers enforces a seven-day cancellation policy. If any customer wishes to cancel their move, they must do so at least seven days before the scheduled move date. Otherwise, the minimum amount will be charged to the authorized credit card number given by the customer when the move is booked.

All cancellations result in the forfeit of the $50.00 deposit required to schedule your move.

Customers may reschedule with NO penalties if done so at least 48 hours before their scheduled move time. Otherwise, the minimum penalty charge will apply.
Fill out a Change of Address Form at the Post Office. Then, contact places, including your bank, doctor, and credit card companies, to notify them of your address change. Then, when you arrive in your new state, visit the DMV for an updated driver’s license and register your vehicle. Click here to go to the USPS online address change form.
