7 Best Apps for Moving Houses:

Are you planning a move shortly? We’ve vetted the best moving apps to make your life (and move) easier. From selling unwanted items to handyman services, the digital age has provided us with any solution imaginable.

Previously, we covered 10 Inventory Apps to Plan Your Move, which focused specifically on mobile apps that help you track your household inventory and take account of your belongings. Today, we’ll dive into other aspects of the moving process, such as apps that help you update your address and get to know your neighborhood.

Hang on until the end! We’ll share other helpful moving resources and local tips to get organized and downsize for your move.

7 Best Moving Apps for a Stress-Free Move

There are hundreds of apps that can support you in the moving process.

  1. TaskRabbit (iOS and Android)

If you need quick and reliable help, TaskRabbit is a platform and mobile app that connects users with local freelancers and handyman services, such as furniture assembly, home repairs, cleaning, yard work, and personal assistance. TaskRabbit’s local service providers, or "Taskers," are verified, reviewed, and must pass background checks. TaskRabbit makes small jobs and errands easy while eliminating the need for awkward in-person cash-handling situations.

  1. Handy (ios and Android)

Similar to TaskRabbit, the Handy app allows you to book handyman services, house cleaning, TV mounting services, furniture assembly, and more. This free moving app has on-demand scheduling and background check requirements to ensure a smooth and safe booking process.

  1. Offerup (iOS and Android)

OfferUp is a mobile marketplace that combines the features of eBay and Craigslist while including a local focus—chat with potential buyers, negotiate prices, and post items for sale. There is no fee for sellers or buyers, and you can read profile reviews for more peace of mind. If you don’t feel like meeting in person, you’re also able to ship items directly to purchasers.

  1. Nextdoor (iOs and Android)

Neighborhood networking just got easier. Nextdoor is a neighborhood-based social networking app that connects you with your neighbors and community. Users can share local information, ask for recommendations, buy or sell items, organize events, and discuss local issues. This moving house app requires users to verify their addresses to ensure they're part of a specific community as an added security measure.

  1. Updater (iOS)

This app was created to streamline the moving process, including changing your address and notifying important organizations, such as USPS, setting up utilities, hiring movers, and updating other essential services. Updater is a powerful, one-stop  app for moving that saves you time (and phone calls!)

  1. MagicPlan (iOS and Android)

The Magicplan mobile app allows users to create floor plans, measure spaces, and plan out interior designs using just a smartphone or tablet. The floor plan feature utilizes augmented reality (AR) scanning technology to map out spaces using your phone’s camera. The 3D floor plans help you visualize how the layout will look in real life, making it easier to plan furniture placement, construction projects, or renovations.

  1. Sortly (iOs and Android)

Sortly can help you track, organize, and manage your assets visually. It’s perfect for business owners or homeowners who need to keep track of what they own. This house-moving app lets you list, categorize, and track items using QR codes. There are both free and paid options available.
